Fragments of Shelters
Elvis Chen’s installation brings together a house, a bed and moving image. Drawing and fragile constructions become a way to explore identity, family memory and the unstable spaces that can both shelter and constrain us.
The installation includes You realize? I am you and Roost, Ram and Refuge, alongside a video bringing domestic recordings from different years into conversation. Personal histories unfold through objects, charcoal and the physical space around the viewer.
The exhibition
Curated by Travis Geertruida, Positions: Gut Feeling brought together Lakisha Apostel, Elvis Chen, Filipp Groubnov and Wessel Verrijt. Their installations invited visitors to consider how materials, bodily sensation and intuition shape our experience of reality.
